Comment: Modern Warfare 2 Demo

Metal Gear?! Wait, no.

Hey, if you haven’t played Modern Warfare 2 yet, you probably just don’t care to play it.  Never the less, there’s now a demo you can fiddle around with.  I may be one of just a few people who enjoyed the single player campaign as much as I did the multi-player mode.  And this demo captures what makes the campaign mode notable in my mind.   It’s fashionable to criticize linearity in games but roller coasters are very linear experiences too and they still manage to be very exciting.  Modern Warfare 2 emulates that experience well as a game.  You aren’t thinking about the rails when you’re riding a roller coaster, you’re thinking about how you feel while you are riding it.  And if a roller coaster is designed well then you’ll have plenty of other things to think about besides the fact that you are just going in a big circle.  Similarly, what happens in Modern Warfare 2 between points A and B is far more interesting than the points themselves.  If you haven’t played it yet, or are haven’t delved into the FPS genre yet, you’ve got nothing to lose in trying out this demo.  The scenario is a blast and worth playing even if you never touch the full game.  Or if you want to hear more about the game itself, check out my review of it.
