How the Saints Saved Christmas

How the Saints Saved Christmas

I had a good time the last mission pack released by Volition for Saints Row IV; it provided consistent laughs, engaging gameplay, and a finale still manages to be outlandish in spite of already being wildly outrageous up to that point.  And now, the boss has to save Christmas.  What’s really made the game and it’s DLC amusing is Volition’s ability to give these experiences the trappings of big budget movies.  How the Saints Saved Christmas continues down the same path.  Barring one prominently placed “Fuck Santa,” you might be forgiven for thinking this was a family friendly holiday experience, if you weren’t paying close attention.

It’s a short experience – shorter than Enter the Dominatrix, but somewhat balanced out with a load of holiday themed content that you can throw into the rest of the game.  The jokes are good, but nothing quite on the same level as the gut-busters in the main game and DLC missions.  You’re not going to be disappointed if you’ve enjoyed Saints Row IV up to this point, or if you want an irreverent holiday experience.  I only wish that Emperor Zinyak had somehow made an appearance, along with some of the other members of the original cast.  The missions are enjoyable overall, but if you’re looking to get the most for your money, Steam’s holiday sale may be a better place to look this week.
